birthday post...

...a month late of course.
I think I've just learned to accept that despite my efforts, my life just isn't very full of exciting things. It basically consists of sleeping, eating, going to school and doing homework.
I mean, unless you really want some thrilling updates about what's going on in my art history classes right now...

Anyways, the point of this post is that every year I get unusually excited about my birthday (since birth you guys, I came out of my mom's belly 2 weeks early because I was that excited about my birthday)

Last year, on my twenty-first birthday I was in a tiny bus driving from Quito, Ecuador, through some crazy, windy, bumpy roads to Pasto, Columbia. And let's just say, while we had some fun pit stops at some great markets and the equator mark, a 10 hour road trip on your birthday (no matter where you're at), with 5 carsick people, is not the ideal way to spend a birthday.

This year was just a little different, because, well
1. I am married, and Cam and I have never spent my birthday and
 2. I turned 22 and that's just not an exciting age to be turning unless you're listening to Taylor Swift's 22.

but being married has its perks. It's just one more family to party with.
So really, I ended up having 3 parties
One with my family, one with my cute husband, and one with Cam's family.

I really can't express why I love birthdays so much
but let me blow out some candles & give me a little something to unwrap, oh, and tell me happy birthday, and I'm a happy girl! (and don't put me in a bus for 10+ hours)

here are a few too many pictures of the weeklong birthday festivities!

got to spend some time with these cuties...

 {p.s. finn's face in the background ^^^ kills me}
 my favorite kittens!

My mom made my favorite lemon cake that I only get once a year which makes it extra special.
Cam gave me these adorable Ray Bans that I have had my eyes on literally since we got married!

Also, I can't go a year without Jackie's empanadas. Every year since we got back from Chile. It's just not a birthday without empanadas!

I woke up to a house full of balloons and bubbles!!
& breakfast in bed!

I ate lunch and dinner with friends!

And then the third party went down...
Cam's brother & sister-in-law from Louisiana were in town and all of our birthdays are pretty close so Cam's mom just threw a big party!
 {just imagine me blowing out my candle on the bottom}

It was a great week of birthday fun and in the momentus words of Taylor Swift,
"I don't know about you about but I'm feelin' 22".

well overdue

Alright people.
For how much I love my birthday, you'd think I'd be all up on posting the photos and deets about it
but...
apparently it has taken me about 1 month, 19 days to do so.
Not to say that it hasn't crossed my mind a time or two, or three, or 19 times.

Better late than never though!

Needless to say it was a fabulous 20th birthday
slash funeral for my beloved teenage years!

Only because I was surrounded by so many of my good friends.

And my family,
knowing up close and personal how much I have, and will always love my bday
--and how I hate to spend it without them--
trekked to Logan just for lunch and a lil bit of Kinect fun!

A few birthday highlights included
 Coming home to a room
stocked with only the finest junk food
(all my favorites!)
by my bathroommate and longtime friend Jess.
My door is glowing because of all the magically delicious surprises that lie on the other side of it!
also packed with things to keep me young like this HanMontan T
which I happen to be wearing right now!
Cuz I'm a Secret Pop Star!!

She also made me french toast for brunch on my birthday.
I'm the luckiest.
I'll just owe the gift of those 10 lbs. I got on my birthday to her

finding this on my facebook at the end of the day.
who doesn't like 41 notifications on facebook all wishing you a happy birthday!
these were a few of my favorites:

--from Elder Hartley, my first crush, and favorite missionary--
--a funny note from my favorite little people--
--my one and probably only birthday wish directly from Paris France--
--competition on Facebook, it's the best!--

I loved all of my birthday wishes, these are just a few that made me laugh!

OKAY FINE!
besides facebook
most of my birthday highlights were food.
big surprise!
I really did love that my mom gave me a
Babes cake AND her homemade lemon cake -drooling!

Happy Birthday to ME!

adieu

In 26 hours I will be forced to let go of a few adjectives that I often use to describe myself such as
teeny bopper,
tween,
bebeeee,
jo-bro lover,
immature k maybe that's going too far..

I have figured out that I can equally compare my birthday to Christmas
except it's even better because it's all about me.
You may think this sounds selfish but I'm just happy to be alive
and I'm sure I'm not the only one
who is happy that I am alive.

This week I have been overly stressed out about school.
ridiculously stressed.
Needless to say, my birthday could not come sooner.
I am using it as an excuse to do absolutely nothing
except go to class because that is what a semi-responsible, non-teenybopper person would do.

Anywho, tonight after a really long long day
(one to nine at school. boo.)
I got to hang out with my best friend
and as I was taking her home the topic of my birthday came up..
(I actually didn't bring it up... I mean, I always think about it but I have to fully restrain myself from always talking about it.)
and she was really sad that I was leaving her behind to deal with her teenage angst all by herself
because you see, she has all the way to July to deal with that.
This brought up the sensitive topic of being the Youngest Old one in Primary
(you know what I'm talkin about)
and everyone leaving you behind and staring at you in the congregation while you're the
 tall, awkward, old one
who was forced to sing in the primary program
all. by. yourself.

I'm just glad I'm the one in the congregation.
correction: almost the one....

10/01/10

Little Neezy is not so little anymore.
I went home last weekend to celebrate his Sweet 16!!
In my head I still picture him as a lil guy with cute curls on the back of his head.
But now he is OLD! I feel like my Sweet 16 was yesterday and now it is his.

We started out his Bday with a midnight scavenger hunt that took us all over town.

(My personal favorite clue was:
-Go to McDonalds and order the "McNeil Special"-
only to find that there were the perfect amount of apple pies prepaid for both cars!
Only Rollie would do that! I loved it)

This hunt led us to his very own pumpkin patch and THIS...

The rest of the weekend was spent watching General Conference
and I even got to spend a few hours working in the little blue hut!

So much fun that I'm seriously contemplating just going home for Fall Break.
Is that lame?
